    Default Need help starting over

Not sure what the problem is, but I'd like to just start over.

    1. Had a simple website up and running, didn't need it anymore so I deleted the files (intentionally).
    2. Installed WordPress using SimpleScript and that worked fine.
    3. Then tried installing WordPress in a new folder (wanted 2nd blog for development), but used Fantastico this time.

Then things quit working. Once I started having problems, I deleted all blog (WordPress) installs and started over, without luck. Now, I can't get a basic "Hello World" index.html page to display, the blog won't display, nothing. Maybe I've accidentally deleted critical files or folders (but don't think so). The index.html file is in the the /public_html folder, as well as the following folders off the root directory:

    /etc
    /mail
    /public_ftp
    /tmp
    /www

Any time I try to go to my primary domain (which has been installed for 10 months) with a browser, I get a generic "this is a future Home Page" page, and the frame source points to www.sedoparking.com. ???? Same result when I try to access the blog.

I'd just like to clean the slate and start over (and have tried), but still can't get anything to display in the browser.

    Any ideas/suggestions?

I would stay away from Fantastico if I were you. SimpleScripts is much better, especially when it comes to installing and updating WordPress.

Since you are starting fresh, you can probably just delete the two installations and restart again. You will also need to delete the database and recreate new ones.

If you area really interested in doing everything right and not relying on an automated system to do it for you, I encourage you to read the Codex on Installing WordPress.

Here is another Codex link on Installing Multiple Blogs. I have done this before where I installed two separate WordPress blogs, allowed them to share the same database, then integrated their user login information.

Yeah I hate fanastico, it's so complex compared to wordpress, if you do use wordpress make sure you get one of the all in one seo plugins though!

Thanks very much for the response. I thought I cleaned up the old installs, but I'll check to be sure I cleared the database too. I still don't understand why I continue to be redirected to the 'parked' page instead of displaying my simple index.html file, but I'll make sure the db is removed before I go back to that. Thanks again for the suggestions (and yes, I'll never touch Fantastico again!).

mweibel would you care to put a link to your site. something sounds wrong with that (do you have anything to do with sedoparking?) is your site on this list? (multipage list in alphabetical order)
