Hi!
I'm trying to upload a page to my HM account from iWeb using easy iWeb publisher. I watched the video tutorial and followed directions, but I keep getting a "remote directory" error. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm actually trying to download the page to one of my subdomains. So, I enetered the info as follows:
Upload iweb site to ftp:// mydomainname.com
Folder to publish to: /public_html/mysubdomainfolder
Website username: username@mydomain.com
with all of my information of course. Is there anything obvious that I'm doing wrong?

I'm just guessing, but shouldn't there also be a password field where you enter you subdomain password?

There is and I did put in my pw. Thanks for responding. I guess I was just assuming the problem is with one of the fields I mentioned and left that off of my initial post. Any other ideas?

You have a space in your example where there shouldn't be one. Is this a bug in the forum software or did you actually put a space there?
ftp:// mydomainname.com
should be
ftp://ftp.mydomainname.com
You can also try simply
www.mydomainname.com (http://www.mydomainname.com)
As long as your iWeb publisher program uses the FTP port by default, then you might be able to get away with not using the ftp:// at the beginning.
If all that doesn't work, you might want to try to remove the " / " from in front of the public_html directory.

Thank you so much Shadmego! There was no space, but once I added ftp. onto the front of the ftp address and took the slash from in front of the folder it worked. :D I really appreciate the advice and the welcome.

I am having the same problem... i keep getting this error message and i have no clue how to fix it-
Cannot find remote directory (/public_html).
i tried taking out the "/" but it still says the same thing... is this something thats wrong on my end?
Try using /home/yourcpanelaccountname/public_html

Have you tried putting nothing in for the default location? What is the entry you are using for the remote host? Are you using ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com or something else?
What about the username and password? Are you using the main account info (the info given to you by Hostmonster) or are you using an FTP account you made yourself?

i tried putting nothing in the default location and it says- cannot find remote directory 0
yes im using the main account info that was given to me...
the thing that frustrates me, is that i uploaded some changes right before christmas, and it worked fine, and i havent changed any settings since... so i have no clue why it would start saying this!
i used to have ftp://dynamitedanceproject.com and tried adding the other "ftp" in there, but still nothing! :( im not sure what else i could change!

In March, all passwords were reset. Did you miss the email that HostMonster sent to you, which begins:
In conjunction with the recent and upcoming roll-outs of several new cPanel security features, all customers will be required to change passwords to new, stronger passwords that meet stricter security requirements. These new requirements are designed to protect customers from potential security risks to due to weak or easily guessable passwords. A new, temporary password has been set for you. Once you have logged in, it is strongly recommended that you change your password again to a preferred password that meets the new password strength requirements. The new system will automatically assist you in choosing a secure password.
Your temporary password is: kdk75$uyJh Note: Your temporary password includes all ten characters.

I last updated my website back in December and everything uploaded just fine. Yesterday, I made changes and tried to upload, but i get the message to check my username and password. I did not change anything in the configuration so I don't know why it worked a few months ago and won't work now when nothing has changed.
Any ideas?

First of all, please start a new thread for your problem. It keeps things organized so that others coming along do not get confused.
Secondly, if you read sdasevne's last post (http://hostmonsterforums.com/showthread.php?4610-Help-with-easy-iWeb-Publisher.&p=35066#post35066), it mentioned that password resets were implemented sometime in March. December is a long time ago and you probably missed the update. Please contact HostMonster support directly (LiveChat is fastest) and ask them to re-send the e-mail or request a password reset.
