Hi there.
I have a problem with perl threads.
I am trying to move my web page from old server to new hoster (hostmonster), and some functions does`t work, because of "Segmentation fault" on threads.pm (i find it after a day of debugging :( ).
It is a bug in perl 5.8.8, on my old server i use perl 5.10 and same page working fine.
So on your servers i can see CentOS v 5.6, with perl 5.8.8 ...
So i do not know is here some of system administrators of hostmonster co on this forum, but maybe someone else know the answer - the question - is there some plan to update your linux version on your servers?
The new CentOS - CentOS 6 will be out in some weeks and it has the newer version of perl - without bug, which makes my page dead.
Thanks.

First of all, this is a customer-to-customer forum. Asking here for something like that isn't going to get results. The best way to get in contact with the server admins is to speak to HostMonster Support directly. You can use LiveChat, e-mail or the ticket system, but LiveChat is faster.
You have to realize that upgrading the OS will do so for the entire server, since your website is in a shared server environment. That might mean down-time for a lot of other customers during the upgrade. The most HostMonster Support might be able to do now is to upgrade Perl alone.

Usually it is just a 1-2 min reboot. When the new version is out, they just need to include new repositories and write - yum -y update. After this going to reboot and OK.

I do not think so, there are no new perl packages even in update repositories for now, that is why so many people waiting for new CentOS (including me). Of course they can try to use Scientific linux repositories (it is almost the same and it has already version based on RHEL 6) - but this is another story :D.

OK. Well, HM Support would be the best people to contact and find out when upgrades will be rolled out for their server OSes.

Support says, that there is no plans in the nearest future to update something...
So it is time to try to do something myself.
