I have recently noted a rather significant disparity betweeen the "Disk Space" report on the HM control panel for a subdomain vs a report from using FileZilla to provide the actual number of files and bytes used in a subdomain.

HM "Disk Space" reports 389Mb for a subdomain of mine.
FileZilla reported 154Mb for the same folder.

Now I realize that HM has some overhead which is also being reported but I didn't expect it to be 100%.

Can anyone explain the disparity?

I don't know about filezilla, it may only give a vague value rather than an exact figure, it could be other stuff aswell like how big are the databases, awstat logs or you could be hoarding mysql_slow_queries etc;.

My filezilla says 3 gigs 300 megs & hostmonster says 3 gigs 200 megs, so i would take filezilla with face value, i trust hostmonster over other 3rd party tools.
